Verizon's myPlan allows you to personalize your plan by adding extra features such as 100GB of mobile hotspots and the Disney bundle. However, keep in mind that these perks come with an additional cost. If you choose the Unlimited Plus plan, which starts at $80 per month, adding those perks could increase the cost of your phone plan significantly. Is my plan worth it? If you think about Verizon's excellent coverage and fast 5G, you can create a plan that suits your needs perfectly.
Let's examine the main carrier, Verizon, and its plan options to help you determine if it's the right choice for you.
Verizon Phone Plans
Verizon offers several postpaid and prepaid plans for you to choose from. In this review, we will mainly discuss the plans included in the carrier's postpaid unlimited myPlan program. These plans are the main focus of Big Red's offerings. If you want to learn more about Verizon's other plans, you can check out our guide to the best Verizon prepaid plans. In this article, we will examine the Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome plans in detail.
Verizon myPlan Unlimited Plans
Unlimited Welcome | Unlimited Plus | |

Premium Data | Unlimited | Not Included |

Talk and Text | Unlimited | Unlimited |

5G | Ultra | Standard |

Do the Myplan Unlimited Plans Truly Have Unlimited Features?
Unlimited Welcome and Unlimited Plus plan technically offer unlimited data, but there is an important condition to consider. During times when the network is busy, your Unlimited Welcome data may experience slower speeds. Unlimited Plus from Verizon offers unlimited premium data, meaning they won't slow you down even during peak network usage. If you want a plan with no limits, go for Unlimited Plus.
Do Both of These Plans Have 5g?
Both Unlimited Welcome and Unlimited Plus plans offer access to the Verizon 5G network. Only customers on the Unlimited Plus plan can access Verizon's Ultra-wideband (UW) 5G. Verizon has developed a high-speed 5G network that can reach speeds of up to 1Gbps.
If you are on the Unlimited Welcome plan, you won't have access to ultra-wideband 5G. You will still have access to Verizon's regular “nationwide” 5G network. However, it's important to note that although the speeds can be quite fast, they won't be as fast as the 5G UW network.
Perks
Verizon used to have great plan perks not too long ago. With your plan, you might be able to get Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Apple Music all included without any additional charges. Verizon has no longer included these perks with its data plans since the introduction of the myPlan system.
Verizon gives you the opportunity to personalize your plan by selecting individual perks to add on for an additional $10 per month for each perk. You can still get the Disney+ bundle for only $10, which is actually a money-saving deal compared to the regular price of $12.99/month.
Verizon offers additional perks that you can purchase, such as:
- Disney+,
- Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle
- 100GB of high-speed mobile hotspot data
- Apple One
- 2TB cloud storage
- 3 TravelPass days
- Smartwatch Data & Safety
The perk choices might change, and Verizon is planning to add more in the future.
Is this system an improvement over the old one? If you desire greater control over your perks, it is possible. You simply need to ignore the fact that you likely received more value for your money with the previous system.
Mobile Hotspot
When it comes to perks, Verizon's old plans had a great benefit: they offered generous amounts of mobile hotspot data on each plan. The allowances for Unlimited Welcome are not as large as before. In fact, hotspot data is not included at all. Unlimited Plus now offers 30GB of data per month, which is a decrease from the previous 50GB allowance on their highest-tier unlimited plan.
If you rely on hotspot data, things aren't too bad. For an additional $10 per month, you can get a hotspot perk. This perk includes a generous 100GB of dedicated hotspot data.
Price and Plans
Verizon is not considered a discount carrier. They used to have the most expensive plan. Even though they are still expensive, there is one benefit to their plans no longer have perks: you only pay for what you actually need. If you're not interested in extras like Disney+, you won't have to pay for them. The Unlimited Plus plan starts at $80 per month, which is less expensive than comparable plans offered by T-Mobile and AT&T. Verizon's myPlan program is competitive, but it's different from what we're used to from them.
Verizon is doing the same thing as other big phone companies when it comes to deals. Typically, the best deals are given to people who have the most expensive plan. If Verizon is giving away the newest iPhone for free when you trade in your old phone, they will only offer this deal to customers who are on the Unlimited Plus plan.
Verizon offers discounts on phone plans for the following, in addition to phone deals.
- First responders
- Military
- Nurses
- Students
- Teachers
Carrier Name | Plan Detail | Price |
---|---|---|
Verizon | Unlimited Welcome ( First Responders ) | $55 Per Month |
Verizon | Unlimited Welcome ( First Military ) | $55 Per Month |
Verizon | Unlimited Welcome ( First Nurses ) | $55 Per Month |
Verizon | Unlimited Welcome ( First Student ) | $55 Per Month |
Verizon | Unlimited Welcome ( First Teachers) | $55 Per Month |
Verizon | Unlimited Plan for 55+ | $62 Per Month |
Verizon Coverage
Verizon has been leading in coverage for many years. Although they are slightly behind their competitors in the 5G race, Verizon still remains the top carrier overall. Take a moment to see how its 4G LTE network compares to AT&T and T-Mobile:
- Verizon: 70% 4G coverage
- AT&T: 68% coverage
- T-Mobile: 62% coverage
Verizon has always been known for its excellent coverage in rural areas. The three main carriers have good coverage in big cities, but Verizon's network is better in rural areas.
Verizon International Coverage
Verizon's unlimited plans include international roaming in Mexico and Canada. If you plan on using your phone in different countries, you should check out Verizon's TravelPass. It lets you use your phone in more than 210 countries for a daily Rate
Conclusion
To sum up, Verizon's myPlan provides personalized choices with extra charges for additional features. The Unlimited Plus plan gives you unlimited premium data and access to Ultra-wideband 5G. On the other hand, the Unlimited Welcome plan may have speed limitations and does not include Ultra-wideband 5G access. Additional charges apply for perks, and the amount of hotspot data available has been reduced. Verizon has great coverage and fast 5G, so it's worth considering if it meets your needs.
